FWIW, here is my take on this email issue
The most important thing in posting to this (or any email list, imo)
is to be polite. The age old maxim "if you have nothing good to say,
say nothing" applies strongly in this case. Imo, posts that fail to be
cordial and respectful are by far the most destructive to an email
list.
The second most important thing is to be clear and concise,
particularly when asking for help. If one is hoping for people on this
list to take time out to read and answer a post, the least one can do
is make a strong effort to clearly explain the problem and pick a good
subject line so that it is easier for people who are not interested in
the topic to ignore the thread.
The third most important thing is to trim your quotes! This is just a
general email pet peeve of mine, but I thought this was a good a place
as any to get it in. The worst is someone replying to a message that
has nothing to do with their subject just to get an email started, and
then leaving all the irrelevant message quoted - and the worst of
these are replies to digest posts. Please take care when using reply.
This list is for sharing information and helping other list members
with problems. If you lose or have no interest in a thread, please
just ignore it. Filters are your friend :-)
Regards,
Hudson
PS- anyone forced to use Outlook has my sympathies. ;-)
